5 Ways to Step into Spring Energy

Have you seen any signs of spring yet? The pop of yellow daffodils always gets me excited for sunnier days to come.

The Spring equinox falls between the 19th and 21st of March each year. It signifies the sun moving across the equator into the northern hemisphere. That means more daylight - finally! Although it’s more than a planetary alignment. It also comes with an energetic shift.

While the Winter solstice is the shortest day of the year and the Summer solstice is the longest day of the year, the equinoxes have a balanced day and night (12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of darkness). So it emanates a sense of stillness, peace and balance.

There’s also an energy of switching from hibernation mode to growth mode. We spent the Winter resting and restoring. Now we’re ready to shake off the cobwebs and take the action we decided on in our Winter reflections. This is the time I set my goals and intentions for the year ahead. It feels more aligned energetically than around the new year. Like nature, we’re ready to go bright and bold, take up space and bloom where we are planted.

Wherever you are on your healing journey, see Spring as the beginning of a new chapter. Bring the motivation of light and new growth into your life with these 5 simple ways to embrace the Spring energy, find balance and blossom.

positive affirmations

I think we could all do with more positive self-talk. It’s so easy to fall into self-criticism and let self-doubt fester. All it does is make us feel worse. By bringing in positive affirmations, we build ourselves up. How we move through the world changes. We open our mindset to new possibilities that we wouldn’t dare to consider before. That’s really exciting! In this time of balance, counter negative self-talk with positivity. In this time of new growth, expand your horizons.

Journal prompts

Have you ever sat down to journal thinking you didn’t have much to write but then 10 minutes later you’re still going? There’s something about putting pen to paper that opens the floodgate of thoughts. It can feel really therapeutic to just get it all out - the good, the bad and the ugly. Then you can throw it away or burn it. It’s like a cleanse of the old to welcome in the new. It’s also a great technique for self-reflection, especially when responding to journal prompts. Stop, pause and listen to yourself. It will help you stay balanced, motivated and on track to our goals for growth.

Sound healing

Singing bowls don’t just relax us - although they are very good at that. Reaching a floaty, meditative state switched off from the world helps us refill our reserves, reflect on actions we want to take and feel more grounded and in tune. Energetically, it rebalances the chakras and trapped energy. Taking the body into rest, digest, restore and repair mode gives us strength and momentum for growth.

Yoga mudras

Mudras are a great addition to any kind of yoga, breathwork or meditation practice. They are hand gestures that influence the flow of energy. Certain mudras are connected to specific elements, chakras and other energetic systems. The intention behind them focuses the mind and brings us back to the body, anchoring us in so we can move forward.

Breathwork

Breathwork works with the mind and body in tandem. By intentionally shifting our breathing patterns, we calm our nervous system. Focusing on the breath can be really mindful. It’s a constant anchor to the here and now. Different breathwork techniques have different effects on our energy. It’s a great reset, rebalance and restart.

When it comes to holistic healing practices, I always say the more the merrier. I like to have multiple in my toolkit so I can choose what I feel drawn to or meets my needs on any given day. Then when I really want to shake up my energy, I can bring them together into a self-care routine and they all build upon each other.

With the spring equinox around the corner, I thought it was a perfect time to show you how to use these techniques to step into spring energy. Wake up, reinvigorate your motivation and incite growth and healing. So I’ve put together 7 days of guided self-care to reignite your energy and healing one chakra at a time.

Each day we’ll tap into the energy of one of the chakras with an affirmation, journal prompt, singing bowl sound and a mix of mudras and breathing techniques. I guide you every step of the way. You just have to read the daily emails and set aside at least 15 minutes to enjoy the practices.

If you have fallen out of healthy habits, have been feeling in a bit of a slump or are excited to get into Spring energy, reset and reconnect with my free 7 day self-care series.
